How to Apply for Membership

Apply by email to info@bromfieldgallery.com with the subject heading "Attn Gary Duehr: Website submission to Bromfield Gallery."
Include a website link to to one recent body of work (like an exhibition proposal), not to your entire website.
For your images, make sure you include media, size and year - in a separate image list if need be.

Also include links to your CV and statement. If necessary, you may attach the statement and CV. Do not attach image jpgs.

Please note: the gallery does not consider submissions by postal mail or CD.

After you submit the materials listed above, here is what happens:

  1. Submissions are considered by gallery artists at monthly meetings. Selected artists will be invited to bring 3–5 pieces to the gallery for an in-person review.

  2. If the in-person review is favorable, a committee of gallery artists will either schedule a studio visit or an interview at the gallery. At that time, the committee will answer questions, and explain the benefits and responsibilities of members—sitting, receptions, members gallery, etc.—and the spirit of a coop gallery. The artist will discuss her/his reasons for seeking membership and experience in similar settings.

  3. Members vote. If accepted, you begin a 3-month trial period in which you assume full responsibilities and receive full benefits: pay dues and show in the members gallery, help with sitting and receptions, etc., but the initiation fee is delayed until final acceptance.

  4. At the end of the trial period, both you and the gallery members decide on permanent membership. Gallery artists vote. If permanent membership is approved, you will be asked to sign a membership contract.

Member Benefits

Members receive a solo exhibition every 24 months. There is a $650 installation/PR fee that covers an installation assistant, 200 postcards, and an eblast through Artscope. Members also show work in the Gallery Artists space and flat file on an ongoing basis, as well as representation on the gallery web site, including an online Shop. In addition, members participate in a Members Group Show each year, and an annual holiday show in December. The relationship with Bromfield is non-exclusive, so members are encouraged to show at other spaces.
